After setting up your account and learning about the basics, you are ready to learn how to play the game. Before diving into a Battle, you need to know the items you can earn in-game, the game modes you can play, and the power-ups that will help you win.

There are two types of levels in the game: the User Level and Crafting Level.

User Level#Copy URL to this article section

User Level (or the Axie trainer’s level) is based on the total EXP gathered by the player. You can see this at the top left portion of the home screen.

User Level increases based on EXP earned.

Some features in the game can only be unlocked by reaching a certain User Level. For instance, in order to unlock the Arena Mode, you need to reach User Level 3.

You can increase your User Level by earning EXP in Adventure Mode, and eventually in Arena Mode as well.

EXP can be earned as Rewards after a Battle.

Crafting Level refers to your Crafting expertise based on the EXP gained by Crafting Runes, Charms, and Special Utility Recipes. This is not the same as the EXP you need for the User Level.

In order to unlock Special Utility Recipes, you need to level up your Crafting Level. For instance, upon reaching Crafting Level 4, you will unlock the Special Utility Recipe for the Ancient Moonstone, which increases your chances of obtaining a Rune every time you Craft.

Note: For every 100 Moonshards that you spend in Crafting, you will be able to gain 10 EXP.

Crafting EXP is rewarded every time you Craft something.

Axie Infinity: Origin currently has two game modes: Adventure mode and Arena mode.

Adventure is the game’s Player vs Environment (PvE) mode featuring a unique storyline where players pilot their Axies against waves of enemies (Chimeras). Adventure mode consists of different chapters. Each chapter is further divided into 7 Big Stages and 12 Small Stages. Players can progress through Adventure mode by finishing each Stage. Successfully finishing a Stage means defeating all the Chimeras.

Arena is the Player vs Player (PvP) mode of Axie Infinity: Origin. Currently, playable Arena modes are Practice and Ranked. In the future, Tournament mode will also be available.

What are power-ups?#Copy URL to this article section

Power-ups are in-game objects that provide additional benefits to individual Axies. In Axie Infinity: Origins, Runes and Charms provide extra power to existing features.

Runes are objects that can be equipped to Axies, while Charms are objects that can be equipped to Axie Cards. Some Runes and Charms are Class-specific, while others are Neutral.

Runes and Charms may be obtained by Crafting. Every time you Craft, you spend Moonshards, but you will not be able to predict what you’ll get. If Moonshards are partnered with a Special Utility Recipe, you increase your chances to get a better Rune or Charm.
