Game Overview
Goon Wars, crafted by Balatroon Games, unfolds as a riveting strategic card game. Participants dive into intense PvP card clashes, armed with decks wielding 30 carefully chosen cards— a mix of creatures, spells, and enigmatic mystery cards. Powered by the innovative Beam blockchain, players are challenged to unravel the art of deploying their cards to perfection, weaving a tapestry of strategic mastery.
Gameplay
Goon Wars differentiates itself from typical card games by not using a mana system. Instead, players can play as many cards as they wish, provided they have the necessary tiles. Tiles accumulate gradually as the game progresses, resulting in a slow start that transforms into fast-paced chaos. The primary objective in Goon Wars is to strategically deploy your creatures to reduce your opponent's health to zero.
Card Type
There are three main types of cards to collect and battle with, each with unique advantages that can help you outwit your opponent.
Creature Cards
These cards are the foot soldiers of your deck. They protect your avatar, possess powerful effects, and deal most of the damage required to defeat your opponent.
Mystery Cards
Mystery Cards serve as your secret weapon, catching your opponent off guard with powerful effects that can change the course of battle. You can play them from your hand or place them face down as a trap waiting to be sprung by your opponent.
Spell Cards
You may play Spell Cards on your turn. They are played from your hand and are not placed on the battlefield. They can empower your cards, inflict damage on your opponent's avatar and creatures, or affect them in ways that could turn the tide of battle.
Card Abilities
Here is a list of card abilities that you can encounter in the game. Each represents a powerful ability that will help you either defeat your opponent or, in some cases, yourself!
Warcry
Describes a come-into-play ability that activates when the creature card enters play.
Last Breath
Represents a leave-play effect. Creatures with Last Breath trigger their effect when they die.
Insult
If a creature your opponent controls has Insult, you cannot attack the enemy's avatar until the creature with Insult is destroyed.
Barrier
A creature with a barrier has a protective shield. When it takes damage for the first time, that damage is negated.
Ensnare
A creature with ensnare triggers its ability when it deals damage to another creature. An ensnared creature cannot attack during the following turn.
MIA
During MIA, the card is essentially inactive and cannot be targeted or take any actions.
Leech
When a creature with leech deals damage, the controlling avatar gains life equal to the amount of damage done.
Untouchable
An ability that usually lasts until the end of the turn. A creature with this ability is immune to damage.
Censor
Cancels out the abilities of a creature, leaving only its original ATK/HP stats untouched.
Mystery
A card cast normally but with a delayed, hidden effect that only takes place when a specific event occurs.
Card Elements
In the game, there are five card elements. Each creature card possesses one of these elements, and when combined with a tile's element, it empowers the card and enhances its abilities.
Battlefield
The battlefield is the arena in which you’ll defeat your opponents. Each player controls half the board and an increasing number of tiles. Each turn that passes adds a tile to your battlefield. These tiles can become elementally charged either through a card effect or by having an elemental card played on them.
Elementally charged tiles provide additional effects when a correspondingly, elementally charged creature is played on one. You can take on your opponent’s creatures or attack their avatar directly.

I've been in love with TCGs since I was like five. YGH, Pokemon, Magic the Gathering, and more. I played Gods Unchained and other new TCGs, but Goon Wars feels more like a breath of fresh air for players, rather than trying to "recreate" the success of other TCGs. Strongly recommend giving it a try!

Goon Wars is the first TCG I've played and from the very first moment I fell in love with it. Lots of nice rewards up for grabs and with RiskFi we will see next level action happening on the battlefields!
